You can buy the book, Fall of a Thousand Suns: How Near Misses and Comet Impacts affected the Religious Beliefs of our Ancestors. It is available through iBooks and Amazon.
This website only lists information on modern-day comets and meteor showers. The book, however, thoroughly investigates how specific ancient impacts and near misses changed religious beliefs around the world.
Comet SWAN

The Discovery of Comet SWAN (C/2012 E2)
Comet Lovejoy may have survived a death-defying close call with the Sun in early 2012, but months later NASA observed the death of Comet SWAN as it plunged into the Sun ending it multi-billion year existence. Comet SWAN was one of the more recent comets witnessed by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory dying in our Sun.
In April 2013 NASA put the odds at 1 in 120,000 that Comet Siding Spring would end its existence by colliding with Mars. It did not. On October 19, 2014 the comet passed roughly 87,000 miles (139,500 km) from the planet, less than half the distance from the Earth to the Moon, and carried on toward the Sun.
